Torri A. Staton, Ph.D named 2023 ACCE 40 Under 40!

Torri A. Staton, Ph.D was recently named to the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives’ 40 Under 40 list for 2023!

Dr. Staton joined The Chamber with an impressive background in academia and higher education. Because of her depth of knowledge in Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity theory and practice, she is uniquely positioned to carry out the work of the Triangle DEI Alliance. The Alliance hosts several annual events. Under Dr. Staton’s leadership, our annual DEI conference has grown to become The Chamber’s largest event, selling out two years in a row.

Dr. Staton is pioneering the A Better Wake initiative, which seeks to galvanize the community around efforts to address systemic racism. To reimagine systems that create inequitable outcomes for Black and Brown residents, the DEI Alliance and its partners created a Blueprint to dismantle systemic racism in Wake County. The Blueprint is a living document comprising more than 40 goals and 150 near-term action items that organizations can take to address systemic racism. The Blueprint is now in its implementation phase, being led by community work groups in four focus areas: economic mobility, criminal justice, education, and health equity.

Dr. Staton is the driving force behind these efforts and is a true community leader deserving of this 40 under 40 recognition.

ACCE is dedicated to recognizing and supporting the most talented professionals in the chamber industry. This annual recognition program showcases 40 of the industry’s top emerging leaders who have demonstrated success in their careers and made significant contributions to the communities they serve. The list includes CEOs and staff professionals from a wide variety of roles and chamber sizes. Their creativity, dedication and commitment to identifying innovative solutions will help shape the future of the chamber profession.
