Raleigh's Cost of Living remains below National Average

The Council for Community and Economic Research has published The Cost of Living Index for 2016Q1. The Cost of Living Index measures regional differences in the cost of consumer goods and services, excluding taxes and non-consumer expenditures, for professional and managerial households in the top income quintile.

The Raleigh-Cary Metro Comp. Index came in at 93.8, up from 2015Q1’s composite index of 92.8 and the 2015 Annual Average of 90.5, with 100 being the national average. Housing continues to contribute to the Raleigh MSA’s lower than average cost of living, with the lowest cost of housing (68.5) of the metros listed below. Below you’ll find a chart showing how we stack up against other metros across the nation.
