Looking Forward to Enhanced Air Service: RTA and ASAP

As Wake County and the Research Triangle region continue to grow at an impressive pace, the potential for enhanced air service options is becoming an increasingly important discussion.

Wake County is currently growing by 62 people per day. Also, Raleigh was recently ranked the second fastest growing city in the U.S. by Forbes and CityLab named Raleigh the fastest growing metro in the country.

With recent investments like Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s (RDU) brand new terminal 2 and a newly reconstructed terminal 1, Raleigh, Wake County and the region are well positioned for new air travel options that will help to sustain our rapidly growing communities.

In order to expand the region’s number of flight options, theRegional Transportation Alliance (RTA) has launched the Air Service Advancement Project (ASAP) to recruit a new international flight to RDU.

To understand the opportunities, challenges and economic impact of new domestic and international air service on our region, two national aviation experts will keynote the RTA 2015 Transportation Breakfast on March 10 at The Umstead.

RDU Airport Authority president and CEO Michael Landguth will also highlight current initiatives of RDU and the region that will strengthen the attractiveness and competitiveness of our market for air service and economic growth.
