Located an hour south of Raleigh, Fort Bragg is home to the XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. Bragg is undergoing significant growth and with the addition of FORSCOM and USARC will become the largest Army post in the nation.

125 miles southeast of Raleigh in Havelock, NC is Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. At more than 13,000 acres, MCAS Cherry Point is one of the largest Marine Corps Air Stations in the world, and is home to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Located in Jacksonville, NC adjacent to MCB Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Air Station New River houses 6,000 military personnel. This is the Marine Corps’ only rotary wing and tilt-rotor air station and is home to the V-22 Osprey.

Located in coastal NC on 156,000 acres—including 11 miles of beach—Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune is home to the II Marine Expeditionary Force. With more than 40,000 marines, Camp Lejeuene is the second largest Marine Corps Base in the U.S.

Created in 1955 and situated on a 16,000-acre Army owned site, Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point is largest ammunition port in the nation and the Army’s primary east coast deepwater port. Sunny Point is located 2 hours from Raleigh, just south of the port city of Wilmington, NC, and is operated by the 597th Transportation Group.

Located adjacent to Fort Bragg, about an hour south of Raleigh, Pope Air Force Base houses more than 5,000 active military personnel. It is home to the 43rd Airlift Wing and the 440th Airlift Wing.

Located one hour southeast of Raleigh in Goldsboro, NC, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base boasts close to 6,000 airmen, reservists and civilian personnel. Seymour Johnson AFB is home to Air Combat Command’s 4th Fighter Wing.

Originally commissioned in 1940, and now home to over 1,500 active duty and civilian employees, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City sits on 800 acres in northeast North Carolina. In addition to the Air Station, Elizabeth City's Coast Guard complex includes the Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (AR&SC), Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC), Support Center, and Boat Station Elizabeth City.
